Join Our Reading Group! Labour and Monopoly Capitalism
Join us to read and discuss a modern Marxist classic
We are excited to invite you to join our upcoming reading group on "Labor and Monopoly Capitalism" by Harry Braverman! This classic work, first published in 1974, had a huge impact on both Marxism and the sociology of work.
Recently it has received renewed attention, with many radical scholars championing it as the seminal text to understanding the labour process and transformations in the contemporary workplace.
Starting on June 3rd, our reading group will meet weekly on Saturdays at 5pm (UK time)/11am (US Central time). We will discuss key themes and ideas from the book, and explore how they relate to contemporary events and experiences, bringing together a mixture of labour activists, radical scholars and anyone interested in learning together in a collaborative environment.
By participating in this reading group, you will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the capitalist system and its impact on workers, as well as engage in meaningful discussions with other people in an open and encouraging environment.
The reading group is hosted by Conter.scot, and is organized collectively by a group of activists in the US and Scotland.
All are welcome to join, regardless to wider reading and experience.
